Josiah Gammon
Dec. 6, 1868 - May 8, 1873 [unsure about this date for probate]

In the name of God Amen.
    I Josiah GAMMON of the county of Currituck and State of North Carolina being sick and feeble of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this to be and contain my last will and testament.

First - I devise my executor whom I hereby after name and nominate, to pay all my just legal debts, raising the means as to do either by sale or otherwise as she may elect or deem most advisable, and paying the said as speedily as may be consistent with the interests of my estate.

Secondly - I loan to my dearly beloved wife Susan GAMMON and my children by her all and every part and parcel of my estate, real personal or chattel which may remain after paying my just debts as above described, to her and their benefit during the widowhood of my wife the said Susan GAMMON, and after she the said Susan GAMMON shall cease to be my widow either by marriage or death I give and bequeath all and every part and parcel of my estate both real personal or chattel as above mentioned unto my children by the said Susan GAMMON, to them and their heirs forever.

And lastly I hereby appoint nominate and elect my dearly beloved wife Susan GAMMON sole and full executrix of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I hereunto affix my hand and seal this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight.

Signed sealed acknowledged and declared to be the last will and testament of Josiah GAMMON by himself the day and date aforesaid before.

[At the very bottom of the last page of the will was written May 8, 1873.  I have no idea if this was the date of probate or perhaps even his death date.]
