William Ferril
Nov. 7, 1742 - Jan. Court 1742/3

In the Name of god Amen, I William FERRIL of Coretuck County Being Sick and Week in bodey but of Perfect mind and memory Thanks be given to almighty god for it Therefore Calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and Ordain this my last will and Testement that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my Soul Into the Hands of god that gave it and as for my body I recommend to the Earth to be burried in a Christian like and decent manner at the desretion of my Exceutors Nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I Shall receive the Same again by the Mighty power of God and as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the Same in the following Manner and form----

Imprimos - I give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved Son Jospeh FERRIL the Third part of all my lands after his mothers Widdowwhood to be Eaquilly devided between him and his two Brothers Caleb FERRIL and Saml FERRIL my Son Joseph to have his Chois of the lands whear I live and Saml FERRIL to have his Chois of the land that I Bought of Saml SIMMONS known by the Name of the Bulyard likewise I give to my Son Joseph FERRIL my gun.

Item - I give and Bequeath to my well Beloved Son Caleb FERRIL the Eaquil Third of all my lands that I Hold after his Mothers widdowwhood to be Eaquilly devided between him and his aforementioned Brothers and my Best Beavour Hat.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well Beloved Son Samuel FERRIL and Eaquil Third of all and Singular my land that I Hold Having his first Chois of the Bulyard as is afore mentioned after his Mothers widdowwhood and my other Beavour Hat and likewise my will and desier is that my Three Sons Joseph and Caleb and Saml Should have Each of them a young hors or mare to be taken out of my stock when of age of Twenty one and as touching my lands given to my Three Sons Joseph FERRIL and Caleb FERRIL and Saml FERRIL my desier is that if Either of them die without lawful Issue that his part of land according to my will may be Eaquilly devided between his other two Brothers and life wise my desier is that if Either my Sons Joseph or Calleb or Saml FERREL do offer to disburst or make sail of any part or persel of the Land before mentioned to them to any person or persons what so Ever uppon any pretences of sale Mortegages or leas Except it be to his other Brother or Brothers & that the portion of land belonging to him might fall into the Hands of his other Brother or Brothers and my desier is that if Either of My Sons do Offer the Sale of the Third of land before willed and bequeathed to them to any person [next two lines are totally obliterated by tape] offender as freely and Clearly to all Intents and purposes as though it had never been given to him the Sd offender.

Item - I give and bequeath to Salla MASEN one likely young Cow and Calf and a likly young Sow & Pigs at the age of Twenty one years.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved Sister Esbel BURKET ye plantation and Land where Joseph FERREBEE now lives without any molestation or desturbance during her natural life and one bed and som furniture.

Item - My will and desier is that my Three daughters Tamer FERRIL and Mary FERRIL & Ann FERRIL should Have ye remainder part of my Movable Estate to be Eaquilly devided between my Three daughters after their mothers widdowwhood.

Item - I give and Bequeath to my well beloved wife Sarrah FERREL whome I like wise make and Ordain my onley and Sole Exrtx to this my last will and Testament the use of all and singlar? my lands & movebles? & Credits to hir onley propper use and bennefitt with out any Molestation or desturbance during her widdowhood and then to fall as is aforementioned to my Children likewise I ordain my well Beloved wife Sarrah FERREL be my onley and Sole Exetx of this my last will and Testament ratifying and Confirming this & no other to be my last will & Testament Utterly disalowing and revoaking and Disanulling all and Every other former wills legacies or bequests by me heretofore in any ways made willed or bequeathed in witness whearof I have hearunto Set my Hand and Affixt my Seal this Seventh Day of Novr 1742.

These may Certify that George FEREBEE and Joseph FEREBEE Two of the Subscribeing Evidences to the with in Will Came into open Court & maid oath on the holy Evangelist that they were present & Saw William FERRIL Sign Seal publish and Declare the with in to be and Contain his Last Will and Testament & that they also saw William FEREBEE The other Subscribeing Evidence Sign his Name There to att the Same Time.  Then also Appeared Sarah FERRIL Executrix to the with in will and Took the Oath appointed by Law for the Qualification of Exceatx.  Ordered That honorabell Nathaniel RICE Secretary have Notice that Letters Testamentory may Issue.  Dated at the Clerks office This 3 Day of february annoD 1742/3.
