In the name of God Amen, I Joseph EVENS of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being weak in body but of a sound disposing mind Thanks be to Almighty God for the same and knowing it is appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be my Last Will and Testament.

First I recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it me and my body to be burried by my executors hereafter mentioned and as for my worldly estate that it hath been pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of in manner following.

First I desire all my just debts should be paid by my executors hereafter named------

Item I lend my two plantations to the westward of the road to my beloved Wife Ann EVENS during her widowhood also all my household furniture also all my stock of all kinds that is in my mark during her life or widowhood.

Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son John EVENS the land and plantation whereon I now live begining at the mouth of the spring branch to the main road and by a line of marked trees to the corner of the sevaner and include all the land I hold to the southward of the spring branch to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Joseph EVENS one tract of land known by the old plantation begin at the mouth of the spring branch and runing with said branch to the main road and with said branch to the head and by a line of marked trees to Col. Thomas JARVES line and for thence to John SIMMONS line and from thence to the swamp containing of seventy eight acres more or less to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Ann EVENS one piece of land lying to the eastward of the land given to John and Joseph EVENS and joining Spence WALKERs line and with said line to the land given to Joseph EVENS containing of forty acres to her and her heirs forever.

and now my will and desire is that after the death of my Wife Ann EVENS that all the moveable estate that was lent to should be equally divided amongst my children Joseph, John, and Ann EVENS to them and their heirs forever.

and I do nominate and appoint my belove friends Nathan HALL, and RichardD DOUGH my executors to this my Last Will and Testament in witness to the above have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of Oct. 1793
