In the name of God, Amen.
I Sampson ETHERIDGE of Currituck County, State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of a sound mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the ceartainty of death do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in the manner and form following:

That is to say first of all I recomend my soul in the care of almighty God who first gave it . 2nd my will is for my body at my death to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor and as touching and worldly estate it has pleased God to bless me with in this world. I give and dispose of in manner and form following:

Viz: I give to my son Sampson ETHERIDGE fifty acres of land to be laid off and situated on the east side of my plantation

Item: I give to my son William ETHERIDGE fifty acres of land to be laid off and situated on the west side of my plantation.

Item: I give to my son Nathan ETHERIDGE fifty acres of land to be laid off and situated on the North west part of my plantation.

Item: I also give to my son Nathan ETHERIDGE one negro boy named George.

Item: I give to my daughter Ana ETHERIDGE one negro girl named Nancy.

Item: I give to my daughter Susan ETHERIDGE one negro girl named Clarissa.

Item: I give to my daughter Betsy one negro boy named Soloman.

Item: I give to my daughter Polly ETHERIDGE one negro woman called Lydia.

Item: I give to my son Thomas ETHERIDGE one negro boy called Dar.

I lend to my beloved wife Elizabeth ETHERIDGE the use and benefit of all my real and personal estate which she is to keep undisturbed during her natural life or Widowhood. Also she is not to bring any charge against any of my children for their support or schooling. I wish for my negro man Phillip to be sold for ready money to be aplied to paying ???

Last of all I nominate constitute and fully appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth ETHERIDGE my whole and sole Executor to this my Last Will and Testament as Wifness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 30th day of July AD 1822.
