William Doxey

Currituck Co. Will Book 3, p. 333-334

The Last will and Testament of Wm. DOXEY, dec'd., was exhibited in open Court at Feby Term 1834 and proven by the oath of John BROCKET one of the witnesses thereto & the hand writing of James G. HALL the other witness thereto proven by the oath of Soloman ASHBEE the extrix qualified & ordered recorded.

In the name of I William DOXEY of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being sick but of sound disposing mind and memory blessed be God do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form as follows viz.

First I give & bequeath unto my Two Sons John L. DOXEY & William DOXEY all the property real and personal bequeathed to me by my Father John DOXEY after the death of my Mother Mary DOXEY to them & their heirs forever.

Second I give the land & plantation on which I now live to my beloved Wife Abi DOXEY to her & her heirs forever.

Thirdly I give & bequeath unto my beloved Wife Abu DOXEY two negroes John & Lam to her and her heirs forever.

Fourthly I give all my other property including money notes judgements of what kind or description sosever real & personal to my beloved Wife Abi DOXEY to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give the land that I bought at the Sheriff sale that is on a judgement Tatum E. GOULD RP vs. Wm. MATHIAS whereon my Mother in Law ELIZABETH MATHIAS MATHIAS (sic) lives to my Wife Abi DOXEY to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give all the negroes that I bought at the aforesaid Sheriff sales that is Coll, Jermimia, Viners?, Edy, Jack, & James, to my Wife Abi DOXEY to her & her heirs forever.

Item I give all the property of every kind that I bought Sheriff sale of William Mathias property to my Wife Abi DOXEY & her heirs forever.

Lastly I nominate & appoint my Wife Abi DOXEY executrix to this my Last Will & Testament and I also appoint my Wife Abi DOXEY Guardian to my children and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made. Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this September 4, 1830.

The words soever real & personal interlinded before signing & also the words in Law.
