In the name of God Amen.

I John DOXY of the County of Currituck and State of NCarolina being in common health at this time present and of a desponding mind and memory and knowing the uncertainty of this life am mind to make this my Last Will and Testament in the following maner.

Imprimus. I leave the use and benefit of all my land and plantation to gether with all my person estate after my dec’d. to the only use of my beloved Wife Mary DOXY during her widowhood and to be disposed of in the following maner hereafter mentioned.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son Dempsy DOXY all the land and premises whereon I now live after the widowhood of my Wife Mary and the piece of swamp land called the Helford land or swamp to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto James DOXY my Son one feather bed and furniture after the decease of my Wife Mary and no more of my estate whatever.

Item. I give to the heirs of John DOXEY dec’d. and to the heirs of Sophias GRAY Wife of Henry GREY one dollar each out of my personal estate after the death of my Wife Mary that is one dollar to John DOXEY's heirs & one to Sophias GREY's heirs.

Item. I give unto my Son Dempsy DOXY after the death of my Wife Mary one dollar for his part of my personal estate and no more.

Item. I give and bequeath unto Sanford DOXY, William DOXY my two Sons the two thirds of my piece of juniper swamp adjoining Caleb ETHERIDGE Esqr And also two thirds of all my personal estate that may be remaining after the death of my Wife Mary to them and their heirs forever.

Item. I lend the use and benefit of one third of my juniper swamp adjoining Caleb ETHERIDGE's and also one third of all my personal estate unto Nancy MILLER (sic) Wife of William MERCER and after her decease I give the third of the said Juniper swamp and the third of the personal estate to all the Children of Nancy MERCER born of her body.

Lastly I nominate and appoint my two Sons Sanford and William DOXY as my whole and sole exors. To this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other wills gift or gifts in said will made by me in witness whereof I the said John DOXY have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day May one Thousand Eight hundred and Twenty.
