This is my last will.  At my death I leave to my daughter Virginia five dollars $5.00 and to my grand son Charles G. DOWDY the son of Donison? S. DOWDY and Moly his wife five dollars $5.00 and to my grand son William S. HARRISON the son of my daughter Virginia and Walter S. HARRISON her husband all the land I may be in possession of at my death and all my personal and chattle property I leave him as my administrator without giving any bond or security as he is my only heir with the exception of the above mentioned ten dollars my reason for making him my only heir he agrees to take care of me my life time as witness my hand and seal this the 21st day of Sept 1892.

PROBATE OF WILL

Currituck County -  In Superior Court before H.B. ANSELL, Clerk
     A paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Samuel DOWDY, dec'd, is exhibited in open court for probate by Wm. S. HARRISON, the executor therein named and the due  execution was proved by the oath and examination of Andrew SCARBOROUGH and Caleb T. DOWDY, subscribing witnesses thereto and it is further shown to the satisfaction of the court by the said witnesses that the said Samuel DOWDY was at the time of making his will, of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will and under no restraint to their knowledge, information or belief.
    It is therefore considered, adjudged and decreed that said proof is sufficient and according to law and that said paper writing is and contains the last will and testament of Samuel DOWDY, dec'd.  It is further ordered that said Wm. S. HARRISON be allowed to qualify as executor as provided by law and enter upon the discharge of the duties imposed by said trust.  Dated this the 6th day of March 1893.
