In the name of God Amen I Josiah DOWDY SENR Of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.

Imprimise, my will and desire is that after my decease all my just debts be paid out of my estate by my executor hereafter named

Item. I lind the use of all the rest and residue of my estate land and moveable estate unto my Wife Rebcah DOWDY during her natural life

Item. I give unto my Daughter Nancy DOWDY six dollars to be raised out my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Sally SANDERSON six dollars to be raised out of my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Peggy DOWDY six dollars to be raised out of my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Betsey DOWDY six dollars to be raised out of my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Patsey WHITE six dollars to be raised out of my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. I give unto my Daughter Rebcah DOWDY six dollars to be raised out of my lands to her and her heirs.

Item. After my Wife Rebcah DOWDY deceased and after the legacies above mentioned are paid to my Daughters. I give the remainder of my lands on the main to my Son John DOWDY and his heirs.

Item. My will and desire is that my lands on the Banks to be sold fifty acres in a lot as six months credit by my executor.

Item. My will and desire is that after my Wifes decese all the rest or residue of my estate if any, be equally divided amongst all my children.

Lastly I appoint Thomas POYNER SENR. My whole and sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament. Givin under my hand and seal this the 9th day of Febuary 1828.
