Currituck Co. Will Book 3, p. 31

In the name of God Amen.
I John DAVIS of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being of Sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, First that all my debts be paid and discharged by my executor herein after named. I give to my Son and to Samall DOWDY my big canoe and sails, I give my gun the musket, to Isaac DOWDY, I give and bequeath my horse to my Wife Hana DAVIS, likewise I give all my land to my Wife during her life, and all my cattle, and further more I give her all my property in doors and out doors, during her life time and after my Wifes decease, I give it all to be equally divided between Samuel DOWDY and Isaac DOWDY. Lastly I do make and constitute my Wife and Samuell DOWDY executrix of this my Last Will and Testament dated this 5 day of October in the year of our Lord 1812.
