At an Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Session held at the Courthouse in and for the County of Currituck aforesaid on the first Tuesday in October Anno Domini 1766
Present His Majesty's Justices

In the Last Will and Testament of JOHN DAVIS, late of the said County deceased , having been then and there in open court proved in due form and ordered to be registered accordingly here follow In Hoc verba-------

In the name of God Amen I JOHN DAVIS being in a low state of health but in perfect memory and calling to mind the mortality of the body thought proper to make this my Last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills whatever constituting and appointing this to be my Last Will and Testament and as to lands and worldly goods thought proper to dispose of them in manner and form as follows.

Item: I give my Son GEORGE DAVIS and his heirs for ever one hundred acres of land lying at the head of my land where he hath now settled and the remaining part of my land I give unto my Son EPHRAIM DAVIS and his heirs for ever.

Item: I give unto my Son JOHN DAVIS a negroe boy called Robin.

Item: I give unto my Son EPAPHRODITUS DAVIS a negroe girl named Judith, she and her increase to have and to hold the same he and his heirs and my will is that my dear and well beloved Wife have the life and service of my negroe woman called Jemisan during her widowhood and when that is ended the said negro woman and her increase to fall to my Son EPHRAIM DAVIS and his heirs .

I give unto my Daughter VANAH RICHARDS one cow and calf and my will is that my dear and well beloved Wife have the use of all my houshold goods during her widowhood and afterward to be divided amongst my three Sons EPHRAIM, JOHN, and EPAPHRODITUS DAVIS and also my will is that after my just debts are paid and the administration on this my estate that my Wife ANNE keep all the remaining part of my stock during her widowhood and lastly my will is my Son EPHRIAM DAVIS be my whole and sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament------ In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20 day of September 1765
