The Last Will and Testament of Mathias DAVES deceased was exhibited in open court at November Term 1840 and p[r]oved by the oath of Manloff R. GREGORY one of the subscribing evidences there to in due form of Law and ordered Recorded.

   This being my last will and Testament made in the presence of almighty God to say I lend my said wife Peggy the Pig Point Island and all there unto beloning so long as she lives and after her death I then give the said tract which posses by the name of Pig Point to James SANDLIN and his heirs for ever.

   I further more give to my Sister Dorcas the peace of land she has occupied for this great many years up as far as the cross fence which has allways been a standing line further more want enoug of my chattle property sold to amount to one Hundred and Twenty five dollars and for that to be given to my said wife Peggy to dispose of as she sees and thinks proper furthermore I will and bequeath unto my said wife all the balance of my chattle property both indoors and out doors also my interest in the schooner Oliver ONeal and all my boats and canoes during her natural life. I also will and bequeath unto the said James SANDLIN fifty dollars worth of stock or money after the deceased of my wife Peggy. If the said James SANDLIN should die before he is ever possessed of the above mentioned land I then give the land to my Sister Dorcas and her heirs for ever. Furthermore I give unto my Sister Dorcas and her heirs the place on which I live after the death of my said wife Peggy, for it to go to her my said Sister and her heirs for heirs for [sic] ever. I also give my said wife PEGGY full power and authority over what I have mentioned she has power to make her own bargains sell and dispose of all the above mentioned things as far as what might be considered for the purpose of make comfortable in life. I wish all my just debts to be paid out of my estate immediately.  I also leave Manloff R. GREGORY my executor to settle my estate with my wife Peggy being signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Manloff R. GREGORY and Mary GRAVES in the year of our Lord this August 28th 1840.
