In the name of God Amen. I Henry CULPEPPER of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being weak of body, but of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say.

First I lend unto my beloved Wife Eady CULPEPPER part of my plantation whereon I now live, beginning at a gum stump at Samuel POWERS line, formerly called Jesse IVES and Henry CULPEPPERs corner tree, thence runing westwardly to a ditch called the great ditch, thence runing various courses down said ditch to another ditch which empties in the aforesaid large ditch, thence down said small ditch a southwardly course to Samuel POWERS line, thence down said POWERS line to the first station, with all priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, free from any interruption from any person or persons whaever, claiming any right or title thereunto, during her natural life. I also lend unto my beloved Wife Eady CULPEPPER the first choice of all my beds and furniture, and one hand mill, one woollen wheel, one linen wheel the first choice, and one half my kitchen furniture and one third of all my hogs and cattle that runs at large: Also one mare and plow to be hers the said Eady CULPEPPERs, during her natural life.

Item. I give to my beloved Son Hardy CULPEPPER the remainder part of my land now in my possession which I bought of Lewis COX, by his the said Hardy CULPEPPERs paying thirty dollars to my estate when in full possession thereof; and after the death of my beloved Wife it is my will that my Son Hardy CULPEPPER be in full possession of all my land which I bought of Lewis COX, containing forty five acres be the same more or less, to him the said Hardy CULPEPPER and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Son James CULPEPPER fifteen acres of land, by his the said James CULPEPPERs paying to my estate thirty dollars when in full possession thereof; beginning at the aforesaid gum stump in Samuel POWERS line, thence runing a westwardly course down the line which formerly divided Jesse IVES from me, to a chinquopin post, thence an eastwardly course to Cornelius POWERS line thence down said POWERS line to Samuel POWERS line, thence down said Samuel POWERS line to the first station, to be his the said James CULPEPPERs and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Son Warren CULPEPPER fifteen acres of land, beginning at the aforementioned chinquopin post, thence runing an easterly course to Cornelius POWERS line, thence runing down said POWERS line to Cornelius and William POWERS dividing line, thence runing westerly course down Arthur CULPEPPERs line to James HUMPHRIES line, thence down said HUMPHRIES line to a line which formerly divided Jesse IVES and me, thence down said line to the first mentioned chinquopin post to be his the said Warren CULPEPPERs and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Son Arthur CULPEPPER thirty dollars, to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Grandson James W. HUMPHRIES, after the death of my beloved, the bed which I lent her during her natural life to be his the said James W. HUMPHRIES and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Daughter Julia CULPEPPER one feather bed and furniture, to be hers the said Julia CULPEPPERs and her heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Grand Son During GARROT one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give to my beloved Grandson Wilea CULPEPPER one feather bed and furniture, to him and his heirs forever.

After my just debts are paid, it is my will that the remainder of my estate which is not lent or given, be equally divided between my five children. Viz. Arthur CULPEPPER, Frances HOLT, James CULPEPPER, Alice GARROTT, and Julia CULPEPPER: and after the death of my beloved Wife Eady CULPEPPER should there be anything remaining which I have lent her, it is my will that it be equally divided between my five above named children. Finally I constitute and appoint my beloved Sons James CULPEPPER and Warren CULPEPPER to be the sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this the 23rd day of November one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.
