Currituck Co. Will Book 4 ; pg. 48 and also on pg. 158 with somewhat different wording & spelling

The Last Will and Testament of Thomas COX JUR. was exhibited at August Term 1838 and duly proven in open court by the oath of Burthy Ann Haymon jurat in due form of Law and ordered Recorded.

   Thomas COX JR. I do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz.

   Item I give and bequeath unto my dear beloved wife one negroe Boy named Jafrey and Also one negroe girl named Betsey and then all my house hold and Kitchen furniture and then all my horses Hogs cattle Sheep and corn and fodder then will be Sold to pay my Just Debts and if there is not anougf to pay my debts my administrator will have to Sell all my Land and what is left of selling of the Land it shall be equally divided between my wife and William MERCER.  I Consider this to be my Last Will and Testament revoking all other and former wills by me at any time here to fore made December 15 day 1837.
