Wilson Cooper
March 18, 1908 - Sept. 14, 1908
[No probate was attached to this will but was found in the estate records.  I have attached it below.]

I Wilson COOPER of Knotts Island County of Currituck and state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, do publish and declare this to be my last will and testament to wit - It is my desire to have my funeral expenses to be paid as soon as convenient as can be after my decease.

Secondly, I give all of my property both real and personal to my wife Lydia at my death to her and her heirs and assigns forever.

My real estate consist of two acres of land that my father left me at the death of his wife Sallie.  Said land is on the west end of where Remus LITCHFIELD now resides, adjoining the lands of A.E. COOPER and Julia J. WATERFIELD.

This land has never been sold or disposed of by me, by refering to the will of my father who died in the year 1868, and then can see particulars..  [Note: see his father's will here.]

I nominate and appoint W.T. WATERFIELD and David WATERFIELD to be my executors to my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me.

In whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18 day of March 1908.

APPLICATION FOR LETTERS TESTAMENTARY

Currituck County: -- In Superior Court before E.W. ANSELL
In the Matter of the Will of Wilson COOPER, deceased
    W.T. WATERFIELD and David WATERFIELD being duly sworn, doth say: That Wilson COOPER, late of said county, is dead, having first made and published his last will and testament; and that they are the executors named therein.
    Further, that the property of the said Wilson COOPER consisting of cattle, 1 horse, 6 hogs, a boat & farming utensils is worth about $50.00, so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application; and that Lydia COOPER, Knotts Island, N.C. is the party entitled under said will to the said property.

PROBATE OF WILL WITH EXAMINATION OF WITNESSES

State of North Carolina    }    SS. In the Superior Court
    Currituck County         }   
    A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Wilson COOPER, deceased, is exhibited before me, the undersigned, Clerk of the Superior Court for said County, by W.T. WATERFIELD & David WATERFIELD the executors therein named, and the due execution thereof by the said Wilson COOPER is proved by the oath and examination of W.A. COOPER and David JONES the subscribing witnesses thereto, who, being duly sworn, doth depose and say, and each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witnesses to the paper writing now shown him purporting to be the last will and testament of Wilson COOPER that the said Wilson in the presence of this deponent, subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing, now shown as aforesaid, and which bears day of the 18th day of March 1908.
     And the deponent further saith, that the said Wilson COOPER the testator aforesaid, did, at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare the said paper writing so subscribed by him and exhibited, to be his last will and testament, and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto, and at the request and in the presence of said testator.  And this deponent further saith, that a the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid, and at the time of deponent's subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto, as aforesaid, the said Wilson COOPER was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will, and was not under any restraint to the knowledge, information or belief of this deponent: And further these deponents say not.

[NOTE: According to cemetery records, Wilson Cooper was born May 9, 1833 and died July 29, 1908.  His father, Wilson Cooper, Sr., died December 17, 1868 at the age of 59.]
