Norfolk Co., VA Will Book 6 (1836-1839), pgs.93-95

Isaac Casey of the county of Norfolk and state of Virginia being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispense of all such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in manner following, that is to say, I give to the children of my deceased daughter Polly Dowdy one dollar each, to John Dowdy and my daughter Thamer his wife I give all the articles they now have in their possession viz: one bed and furniture, one falling leaf desk and six winsor chairs.  To my daughter Eliza Morisett I give one bed and furniture six winsor chairs, two tables, one common the other black walnut, all of which articles she has now in her possession.  To my daughter Lucinda Brumsey I give one bed and furniture also one chest which articles are now in her possession. I lend to said Lucinda Brumsey one negro woman named Chaina and children, and their increase and after the death of my said daughter Lucinda, I give the above named Chaina and her increase to the children of my said daughter Lucinda to them and their heirs forever.  To the children of my son Enoch Casey I give one dollar each.  To my wife Sarah Casey I lend during life one negro man named Jim, one negro boy named Peter, one negro woman named Agga, and all of Agga's children and their increase, and after the death of my said wife I lend the above named negroes to my daughter Jane Casey during her life and give her children if any forever and if my said daughter Jane should die without an heir lawfully begotten of her body, I then give the above named negros and their increase to my children and their heirs forever. I give and bequeath unto my wife Sarah Casey one negro woman named Molly forever. I lend unto my daughter Eliza Morriset during her life one negro woman named Sabra and her increase and at the death of my said daughter Eliza I give unto my grand daughters Patsey, Margaret, Ann, and Sally Morriset the said Sabra and her increase to be equally divided between them forever. I give unto my grand children Isaac, Joseph and John Fisher, children of my daughter Tamor one dollar each. all the land I possess in North Carolina is now under lease, given by me for five years, and I wish the land to be sold provided it will bring two dollars and fifty cents per acre for the benefit and sole use of my daughter Jane Casey and if said land will not sell for the above price I desire that it shall be continued to be rented out to the same leasor provided he will give a reasonable price if he wishes it, and all the rent of the said land to go to the use and support of my daughter Jane during her life and if she should have children lawfully begotten of her body I give it to them and their heirs forever, but if the said land should not be sold and my said daughter Jane die without an heir as above I then give the said land to my three grand sons Isaac, Joseph, and John Fisher to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever. I give my daughter Jane one bed and furniture and all the rest of my estate not will’d away. I give my wife Sarah Casey all money due me by bond upon account or otherwise together with what I now have in my possession after paying mine and the family expenses after my death. I give to my wife Sarah and my daughter Jane to be equally divided between them. I now constitute my friend Isaiah Cherry Jr. executor to this my last will and testament and I do by these presents disannul and destroy all other wills by me made. In testimony of the same I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.

At a Court held for Norfolk County the 19th day of August 1839. This will was proved by the oaths of Isaiah Cherry, Jr, Matthew G. Ferebee and Francis Ferebee, the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.. Wm.. H. Wilson, C.C.
