In the name of God Amen, May the 6th 1777
I John CALLIS of the county of Currituck and State of N. Carolina being very sick in body but of sound mind and memory Thanks be to God, but knowing the imortality of my body, I hereby make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament.

First of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it me, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a christian manner at the discretion of executors hereafter mentioned, And as touching such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I despose of them in the following manner Viz.

Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Sarah CALLIS all and singular my goods and chattle, lands and tenements to her and her heirs forever (except the land and plantation whereon I now live which I give and bequeath to the child which my said Wife may be with child with to be possest of the same when it comes to age which I give to that [worn off] its heirs forever, but in case the said child dies under age then said land is to remain in the hands of my beloved Wife Sarah CALLIS) which with all the remaining part of my estate before mentioned I give and bequeath to her and her heirs forever, I do likewise appoint my well beloved Wife Sarah CALLIS executrix and Wm. Francis WILLIAMSON executor to this my Last Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
