Currituck Co. Will Book 3, p. 196

In the name of God Amen. I Sarah H. BURROWS of Norfolk County being in a low State of health, but of sound mind and understanding, make this my Last Will and Testament in maner and form hereafter mentioned.

Item. I give and bequeath to Wilson M. BALLENTINE my negro man Lembrick to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give and bequeath to Kader H. BALLENTINE my negro woman Nelly and her increase to him and his heirs forever and whatever money may belong to me after paying all my just debts to be equally divided between the said Wilson M. BALLENTINE and Kader H. BALLENTINE.

Item. It is my will and desire and I do hereby permit that should my executor have any just cause to sell Nelly to do so and either to buy a boy or to put the money arising from the sale of said negro out on interest which ever he may think the most conducive to the interests of the said Kedar H. BALLENTINE.

Lastly I nominate and appoint Doctor Phineas SANBORN Executor to this my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 19th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and twenty four.
