In the name of God amen. I Hanson BRIGHT of the state of North Carolina and county of Currituck being weak in body and much indisposed but of sound sense and memory blessed be almighty God for the same do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be and contain my last will and Testament in manner and form following. Viz…

Imprimis. I lend the use and benefit of one third of my lands and plantation that is now under farm with all the houses and out houses except the North and west side and use of my Barn to my beloved wife Amey BRIGHT during her life.

Item. It is my will and desire that the other two thirds of my land and plantation with the north and west side and one of the Barns be rented out to the best advantage by my executors hereafter mentioned to the use and benefit of my children in schooling and supporting said children also that the executor be strict that the ground be not over tended but to be shifted & that the ________ timber and fire wood be not wasted &c. by them who may rent the same.

Item. It is my will and desire that my executors shall sell at public sale on credit of six months the whole of my moveable estate &c. Imediately after my decease and the one third part of such sale or the proceeds I give unto my beloved wife Amey BRIGHT and heirs forever.

Item. It is my will and meaning that after my wife Amey decease that my executors shall sell at public sale the whole of my land & plantation where I now live on a credit of six months first auctioning the same according to law in such case

Item. It is my will & desire the amount of the sale of my land and plantation and also the two thirds of my personal estate the sale of my personal estate I give and bequeath unto my children to be equally divided amongst the whole of them then living to them and their heirs forever.

Item. The two thirds of the sale of my personal extate my meaning and will is shall be applied to the use and educating my children so they may want it as they may not suffer or be _______ for want of the same before the sale of the lands as that may be some severe(?) length of time before the departure of my wife Amey BRIGHT.

Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my friend Thomas BAXTER and nephew Solomon BRIGHT my whole and sole executors of this my last will & Testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the 3d Day of Feby & in the year of our Lord anno Dom. 1807.
