In the name of God, Amen. The 18th day of January 1818. I Thomas BEST of Kinnekeet Banks of the County of Currituck, being in perfect mind and memory, but very sick of body, calling to mind the mortality of my body that it is appointed for all men once to die, and I do therefore put my Last Will and Testament in writing: therefore and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that give it and my body I command unto the earth to be buried in a christian like manne4r at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same.

First of all my desire is that all my lawful debts to be paid and as touching of worldy estate, I give as in manner and form following.

Give beloved to Wife Anna one bed and furniture. I lend to give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Anna BEST two sheep and one linen wheel, two flag bottom chairs, one chest, some earthen ware, one table, one sow pig, and the remains of half dozen spoons, five knives and forks, one tub, one pot and tea kettle, one water pail, the remains of my property I leave to be sold and the money to be equally divided between my Son Ezekiel BEST and my Daughter Polly BEST after paying my just debts. I do hereby appoint my beloved Wife Anna BEST to be my whole and lawful Executor, I do hereby acknowledge this to be my Last Will and Testament, and do make void and disannul all others whomsoever shall oppose it: as witness my hand seal
