In the name of God Amen.

Being in my right mind and in my right senses, I give and bequeath my property as follows. First I give my land and all my moveable property within doors and without to my loving Wife Nancy BERRY her natural life or widowhood, then my land to be divided between my two Sons Richard BERRY and John BERRY and then my moveable property to be equally divided between my four Daughters only leaving out enough to pay my debts, this being my Last Will and Testamony leaving my property in the hands of my Wife Nancy BERRY January the 2d day 1813.

[Note: Although there is no first name given on this will, court minutes show that his name was John.  Probate date is also from minutes of the Currituck Co. Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions].
