In the name of God Amen, I Joshua BAXTER of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being very week(sic) and sickley in body but sound and perfect in memory, consider it is appointed for all men onst to die and after death the judgement and as for my worldly goods which it heath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I leave as follows,-----------------------

I give and bequeath to my two Sons James BAXTER and Samuel BAXTER, the land and plantation where I now live to be split from the creek westward and James to take his first choice.

I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary BAXTER one fither bed and furniture and one dish and half a dusen plates one pott, one cow and calf, one ewe and lamb , it is my desire that my dearley beloved Wife Sarah BAXTER should be heare quietly persest with all my house hold goods and chattle within doors and without during hir natural life and afterwords to be equally divided 3 children, Sarah BAXTER and Joseph BAXTER executors.
