Present His Majesties Justices
The Last Will and testament of Sam'll BARNARD , Solomon ASHBEE, Salley MASON, Frances JONES, Joseph POYNER, Richard WICKER, Gilbert PORTWOOD, Joshua WEST, and Richard NICHENNE late of this County deceased was in open Court exhibited prov'd and the respective executors and executrixs thereof qualified in due form of law the said Wills were ordered to be recorded and stands as followeth Viz.

In the name of God Amen.
I Samuell BARNARD SEN. of Currituck County and Province of North Carolina being sick and poorly in body but of a perfect mind and memory have called to mind the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament.

Imprimis, I geive and bequeath to my Grandson Samuell BARNARD the son of John BARNARD deceased fifty acres of land lying in the County of Pasquotank it being a part of a tract that is known by the name of Hortons Folly it being the part were the houses stands where the said deceased lived, to him and his heirs forever, also my negroe boy called Bob to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grandson John BARNARD the Son of John BARNARD deceas'd all the remainder part of my lands that is in the County Pasquotank that is adjoining the aforesaid tract that is already given to my Grandson Samuell BARNARD called the North Folley to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grandson Richard BARNARD the Son of John BARNARD Deceased one negroe boy named Joe to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give to my Grandson Edward BARNARD the son of John BARNARD deceas'd one negroe boy call'd James.

Item: I give and bequeath to my two Grand Daughters Ann and Sarah BARNARD the daughters of John BARNARD deceas'd one negroe wentch nam'd Lydia her and her increase to be equeally to them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son Samuel BARNARD the plantation wheron he now live with all the woodlin land thereto belongs the said land lying in Sandy Hook in Pasq.------ to him and his heirs forever, also one negroe girl call'd Quaker Rachel.

Item: I give to my Grandson Carter BARNARD and my Grand Daughter Mary BARNARD the orphans of Luke BARNARD deceas'd one negroe girl named Sue to be equeally to them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son Carter BARNARD one negroe call'd Gim and one negro call'd Sall to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give to my Son Caleb BARNARD one negro man call'd Frank also fifty acres of land more or less called the Poplar Ground the said piece of land adjoining Cornelius GREGORYs and Thomas McKNIGHT to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son Joseph BARNARD one negro called Jaffry to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son William BARNARD one negro boy called Mustefer, one negroe girl call'd Rachell one negroe boy Hearo to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elisabeth BARNARD one negroe boy called Tom one negroe boy call'd Daniel one negro girl called Feby one negroe wentch named Betts one desk one feather bed with furniture and three cows and calves and my riding horse to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Meream LURRY the Daughter of Mary LURRY deceased one negroe wentch named Rose one negroe girl called Isabell one negroe boy call'd Charles to her.

Item: I give and bequeath to my two Sons Robert and Jesse BARNARD the plantation with woodlon land there to belongs whereon I now live excepting the use to my Wife Dinah BARNARD during her natural life the fores'd land to be equeally agreable to quality and improvements to them and their heirs forever----also one negroe named boy named Catenus one negro boy called Charles one called Mender one called Mirer one called Ishmill to be equeally between my two Sons Robert and Jesse to them and their heirs forever.

Item: I give to my Grandson Samuel BARNARD the Son of Carter BARNARD one negroe girl called Hannah to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Dinah BARNARD three negroes Viz. Ben, Jenny, and Sarah and all the residue of my estate both in door and out ???? she paying all my just debts during her natural life and at her decease to be equeally divided between my three youngest Sons viz. William, Robert, and Jesse BARNARD---and Last of all I leave my two friends Joseph BELL SEN. and Joseph BELL JUN. my only executors to this my Last Will and Testament : In witness whereof I have unto set my hand and affix'd my seal this 21 day of September Anno Domini 1772

I gived my Son in Law William LURRY one cow and calf-----------
