At an Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Session held at the Courthouse for the said County on the first Tuesday in July 1762.

Present His Majesty Justices

These Six Wills, To wit, The Last Will and Testament of John BARBER dec. of Dennis CAPPS of Willoughby MARCHANT of Thomas FEREBEE of Thomas WILLIAMS and Joseph BOWREN were there and exhibited in open court upon request of the Executor in there named proved in due form of Law, and the executor (?) having taken the oath, the wills were ordered to be registered and here they follow in these words accordingly To Viz:

The Last Will and testament of John BARBER deceased stands this Viz:

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN
I John BARBER of Currituck County Planter in the Province of North Carolina being very sick and week (sic) in body but of sound and perfect memory thanks be to God for it and now calling to mind this Transoitory (sic) life and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye: and as for my worldly estate where will it has pleased the Almighty God to bless me with I doe (sic) bestow in this manner as follows----- Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua BARBER Fifty acres of woodling land on the Estermost corner of my land adjoing the land of William FEREBEE to him and his heirs forever------------------------

I give to my son Joshua BARBER one cow and calf and one sow and piggs to him and his heirs forever.

I give to my daughter Letitia BARBER my dwelling plantation I now live on and all remainer of my lands to her and her heirs forever-------

I give to my daughter Letitia BARBER one case of bottles one box iron hetters one pewter dish one bason two peter plaits (sic) one feather bed and and the furniture that belongs to it that is called the garls (sic) bed to her and her heirs forever. Likewise I give one cow and yearling and a Two year old heffer that is in her mark to my daughter Letitia BARBER to her and her heirs forever.

I give to my beloved wife Masinah BARBER one cow and calf to the value of thirty shellings Proc. money that to be her full proportionable  part of my estate and no more to her.

I give to my daughter Sarah BARBER all my household goods within doorse and all my stock of horses, cattle , sheep, and hogs without doorse to her and her heirs forever after my debts is paid and Funerral charges . (Turn over)

I doe appoint ordaine my Brother Ths. (sic) FENTON and Samuel BARNARD SEN. They two to be my only and Sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament as witness where of I have here unto set my hand and fixed my seal this Seventeenth day of April In the year of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty two.
