The Last Will and Testament of Barbara BALLENTINE was Exhibited at May Term 1835 and Proven by the oath of James H. HOLMES a witness thereto and ordered to be Recorded.

To whomsoever it may concern & to all and every person to whom these presents may come Know Ye that I Barbary BALLANTINE of the County of Currituck & State of North Carolina being of sound mind & perfect memory but being admonished by a feeble state of health of the uncertainity of life & the certainty of Death and in order to make some disposition of what property I may possess at the time of my dissolution as shall comfort with my views of Justice to my youngest children -- I have given and by this my last will & testament do give & bequeath as follows to wit.

   1st To my Eldest Daughter Mary Elizabeth BALLANTINE I give & bequeath one bed and furnature.

   2nd I give & bequeath to my youngest daughter Sarah BALLANTINE one bed & furnature

   3rd I give & bequeath to my Eldest son Thomas BALLANTINE & to my second son Henry BALLANTINE each separately & individually Ten dollars.

   Item 4th It is further my wish & will that the residue of my estate of all & every description after paying my just debts should be sold at auction saving only my wearing apparel, which I wish to have divided equally or as near as maybe between my two daughters before named and the proceeds thereof equally divided between my three youngest children to wit..David my youngest son and Mary Elizabeth & Sarah my two Daughters.

   Item 5th It is my wish further that in the event of the death of one of my said youngest children before it becomes of age what property may remaining of my Estate should be equally divided between the remaining two of the afore name three youngest children and should two of them die before coming of age, that the whole amount of this my bequest to them then to them belonging should go to the surviver of the just named three youngest children.

   In full & perfect confirmation of the foregoing Instrument I hereby make publish & constitute it my Last Will & Testament.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal in presents of these witnesses on the twenty seventh day of January Anno Domani one thousand Eight hundred & thirty five
