In the name of God Amen, I John ANSELL SEN., of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being very sick and weak in health but perfect in memory Thanks be to God for it, calling unto mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recomend to the earth to be buried in a christain like manner at the diserction of my executors and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise dispose of the same in the following manner and form-------------

Item first of all I lend the use of all my lands to my Son James ANSELL during of his life and in case he the said James ANSELL dyes before his Wife Julon ANSELL I lend the use of the above lands to her during the time she remains to be my Sons widow and no longer my desire is also that the afsd. Julon ANSELL shall keep my Sons children free from any charge during the time of her widowhood if it should be so as she should be poss (?) as above mentioned.

Item I give and bequeath all my lands to my two Grand-sons namely John ANSELL and James ANSELL to be equally divided between the two by an easterly and westerly line an equal numbr. of acres is what is ment and Grandson John ANSELL to have his first choice and in case either of the two befor mentioned John or James ANSELL shoul dy without lawful essew of their body my desire is that my Grandson Henry ANSELL should have that part of the afsd. land in like manner to them and their heirs for ever and this above gift to take place when the time lone (?) is expired---------

Item I give and bequeath all the remainder of my property not before mentioned to my Son James ANSELL both in doors and out doors that is to say stock of every kind, negros, household furniture, and everything that I am posesd. of to him and his heirs for ever.--------

I likewise constitute make and ordain my Son James ANSELL my whole and sole executor to this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this ninth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five

sealed and delivered in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have here unto subscribed our names
