In the name of god amen I James ANSELL being aged and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory blessed be god for it and Calling to mind the uncertainty of this Life and Knowing that it is appointed for all men to die doe therfore make this my Last will and Testament in manor and form following that is to say first and principally I recommend my soule to almighty god that gave it hoping to receive forgiveness for all the sins that I have committed in this wicked world secondly my body to be buried in such Cristian and decent manor as my Executor hereafter nominated shall think fitt and Convenient

Item: I give to my son John ANSELL my plantation and track of land whereon he now lives to him and his heirs forever also I give to my son John ANSELL four negroes named Sarah, Will, Joe, Jacob to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give to my daughter Sarah ROBERTS one silk rug also I give to my daughter Sarah one desk one larg Iron pott one feather beed and bolster which they have in possesion.

Item: I give to my gran son James ROBERTS half of my wearing Cloaths the other half to my son John ANSELL also I give to my son John ANSELL all other of my moveabel estate.

Also my will and desier is that the negro wench called Ester which I gave to my son John ANSELL by deed be seet att Liberty during the term of sixty years and in Case my son John should not allow her my desier then all that I Have given to him I give to my daughter Sarah ROBERTS except five pounds.

I do apoint my son John ANSELL executor to this my last will and testament as wittness my hand and seal this 12th day of Septemr. 1738.

Present His Majesties Justices
These may Certify that Henry WHITE and Hilary WHITE two of the Subscribing Evidences to the Within will Apprd. in open Court and made oath on the Holy Evangelist that they weare present & saw James ANCELL sign seal and Declare the within to be and Contain his Last Will and Testament and that the said James ANCELL was then and at that Time of sound and Perfect Memmory and that they also saw the other subscribing Evidence sign her Name thereto at the Same Time Then also apprd. John ANCELL Executor in open Court and took the Exors. oath in Due form of Law. Ordered that the Secry: have Notice hereof that Leters Testery Issue thereon as the Law Directs.
