Garland Ray Walker,
Sr., (name legally changed from Newbern to Walker), grew up in the
home of his maternal grandparents, Clarence Eugene & Sarah Nevada
(Burton) Walker. He
was born
in Currituck County on Feb. 11, 1934 and died in Newport News on May 10,
2014 [see
obituary]. Garland is buried in the
Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
