Currituck Co., N.C. Houses

Mrs. Clyde Mathias Home

Located south of Court House on Currituck Sound at the County Seat.  This is said to be the Inn of the Port of Currituck mentioned in an old writing which also shows a picture of the building.  Note also the old kitchen at back not joined to the house.  Mrs. Mathias says that the end nearest the Sound was built first and the left end added later, but both are "more than a hundred years old".

This photo and information are from the project "Old Homes in Currituck County to 1860" originally compiled June 1960 by Alma O.
