Inscribed on the Roll of N. Carolina at the rate of 80 Dollars per annum, to commence on the 4th day of March 1831.

Certificate of Pension issued the 25 day of Augt. '33 and sent to Spence Hall - Currituck CH, No. Ca.

Letter to Pension Agt. 17 April 1838 and to 3d Auditor & J. Harrison 21 June 1838.

Paid at the Treasury under the Act of the 6 April 1838 from 4 Sept. 1836 to 1 Decr. 1836, the day of his death--Agent notified 26th July 1838.

State of North Carolina
Currituck County

     On this 29th day of August 1832 personally appeared in open Court before Caleb Etheridge, Benjamin T. Simmons, John B. Jones, and William Bray, Justices of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County of Currituck and state of North Carolina - David Lindsey a resident of said county & State, of the age eighty years who being first sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following Declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed 7th of June 1832.  He saith that in the year 1776 he entered as a soldier in the State service under an Act of Assembly of the State of North Carolina; that he was first under Captain Dennis Dozier, then under Captain John Jarvis and then Captain Alexander Whitehall; that he served for one year and eight months & was stationed on Currituck Banks to guard the Coast & Indlet; that he had no documentary evidence but can prove the service by Thomas Ives and Jesse Perry.  He further says that he served as Captain under Colonel Asahel Simmons and General Isaac Gregory in the year 1780; that he marched to the Yadkin in North Carolina soon after Gates Defeat and was stationed near the Yadkin for five months.  He has no documentary evidence but can prove by Hosea Ball & Joshua Ball that they saw him in the service at the time mentioned on the Yadkin River.  He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and declares that his name is not on the Pension Roll of the Agency of any State.

     The evidence in support of your claim under the act of June 7, 1832, has been examined, and the papers are herewith returned.  The following is a statement of your case in a tabular form.  On comparing these papers with the following rules and the notes, you will readily perceive that objections exist which must be removed before a pension can be allowed.  The notes and the regulations will shew what is necessary to be done.  Those points to which your attention is more particularly directed, you will find marked in the margin with a brace (thus: }),  You will, when you return your papers to this Department, send this printed letter with them; and you will, by complying with this request, greatly facilitate the investigation of your claim.

Sir:
     Under the act of the 6th of April 1838, entitled "An act of directing the transfer of money remaining unclaimed by certain Pensioners, and authorizing the payment of the same at the Treasury of the United States," The children of David Lindsey, deceased, a Pensioner on the Roll of the N. Carolina Agency, at the rate of Eighty Dollars and ______ cents per annum, under the law of the 7th June 1832, has been paid at this Department, from the 4th of Sept. 1836 to the 1st December 1836, the day of his death.
