J. [John] J. Brumley - 1896

10 Oct 1896 - Commissioners Report on Widow's One Year Support.  Commissioners allotted to Lydia BRUMLEY, widow of J.J. BRUMLEY, $195.70 worth of articles of personal property and find that there is a deficiency of $704.30.  They also find that the family, exclusive of the widow, is six.  /s/ E.D. BOWDEN, A. WATERMAN, Timothy [his x mark] BOWDEN

not dated - Lyida A. BRUMLEY, widow of J.J. BRUMLEY, decd, sues the personal representative of the estate for $704.30 which she is deficient on her one year's provision.  /s/ E.W. ANSELL, Clerk Superior Court

NOTE:  Currituck County marriage records show John J. Brumley marrying Lydia Beasley on January 27, 1879.  Cemetery records show John J. Brumley being born March 26, 1854 and dying Sept. 30, 1896.  His wife, Lydia A. Brumley, was born Nov. 16, 1862 and died June 26, 1943.  They are buried on Knotts Island.
