Johnson [Jonathan] Brothers - 1877

7 Mar 1877 - Commissioners Report on Widow's One Year Support.  Commissioners allotted to Rebecca BROTHERS, widow of Johnson BROTHERS, $121.00 worth of articles of personal property and find that there is a deficiency of $279.00.  They also find that the family, exclusive of the widow, is four.  /s/ W.H. COWELL, Mathias [his x mark] DUDLEY, Charles BELL

NOTE:  The 1860 Currituck census shows "Jonathan" Brothers age 45, Rebecca Brothers age 27, M.E. Brothers (female) age 8, A.M. Brothers (female) age 6, and Thomas Brothers age 4.  The 1870 Currituck census shows Jonathn Brothers age 55, Rebecca Brothers age 38, Annie Brothers age 16, Thomas Brothers age 14, Samuel Brothers age 12, Margarett Brothers age 10, Josiah Brothers age 8, Susan Brothers age 4, and John Brothers age 2.  Rebecca and her family are living in Moyock Twp. in 1880 where she is listed as a widow.
