Deed Book 60

[Deed Book 60; pg. 77-78]  This deed made this 18th day of November 1921 by L.W. EVANS of Currituck County and State of North Car. of the first part to B.B. BATEMAN of Currituck County and State of North Carolina of the second part Witnesseth: That said L.W. EVANS in consideration of  ($12.00) Twelve and no/100 Dollars to him paid by B.B. BATEMAN the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents does bargain, sell and convey to said B.B. BATEMAN and his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in Poplar Branch Township Currituck County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of L.W. EVANS, HARRIS heirs and Poplar Branch Baptist Church ground and others, bounded as follows, viz:

Beginning at the South West corner of HARRIS heirs lot, thence South 16 ft. binding Baptist Church ground thence East 22 ft binding L.W. EVANS land, thence North 16 ft. binding L.W. EVANS land, thence West 22 ft binding HARRIS heirs to first station.

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtinances thereto belonging to the said B.B. BATEMAN, his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever, And the said L.W. EVANS covenant to and with the said B.B. BATEMAN heirs and assigns, that he is seized of said premises in fee, and has has a right to carry the same in fee simple, that same are free from all encumbrances, and that he will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whatsoever.

In testimony whereof, the said L.W. EVANS has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year fist above written

[Deed Book 60; pg. 190-192]  This deed made this 20th day of October 1922 by George A. DOXEY of Currituck County and State of North Carolina of the first part to Ben BATEMAN and wife Martha of Currituck County and State of North Carolina of the second part, Witnesseth:  That said George A DOXEY in consideration of ($1600.00) sixteen and no/100 dollars to him paid by Ben BATEMAN and wife Martha, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain, sell and convey to said Ben BATEMAN and wife Martha and their heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in Poplar Branch Township, Currituck County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of W.T. GRIGGS, W.A. DOXEY, and Daniel LEARY and others, bounded as follows, viz:  Beginning at a ditch ... containing 21 acres more or less.  The grave yard and a cart road from the public road to the woods on the north side of said tract is excepted. 

To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Ben BATEMAN and wife Martha, their hiers and assigns to their only use and behoof forever. 

And the said George A. DOXEY covenant to and with the said Ben BATEMAN and wife Martha heirs and assigns that he is seized of said premises in fee, and has right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that he will warrant and defend the said title to the same, against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof, the said George A. DOXEY has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written
