[Deed Book 25; pg. 85] Thomas M. MIDGETT of Tyrrell County "...for & in consideration of love & affection which I have & do bare towards my daughter Nancy ETHERIDGE & Thos. ETHERIDGE, her husband & as well as receiving the sum of $500.00..." granted a tract of land in Currituck County on Roanoak Ialsn and joining Samuel  N. MIDGETT, the Cypress Swamp, I.B. ETHERIDGE and Wateman BEASLEY, containing 75 2/3 acres, "...it being the land I bought of Nancy ETHERIDGE, wife of Wm. ETHERIDGE and all the land I possess on Roanoak Island..".  This indenture was made June 24, 1847.  Wit: A. TWINE, John B. ETHERIDGE.  /s/ Thomas M. MIDGETT.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 87] William ROLLINS of Hyde County sold to Samuel N. MIDGETT of Currituck County, for $80.00, a tract of land on Roanoak Island running the width of Thos. ETHERIDGE's, dec'd., land to make 60 acres, it being the land William ROLLINS bought from Benj. H. ETHERIDGE, son of Thos, ETHERIDGE, dec'd.  This indenture was made August 19, 1847.  Wit:  Adam D. ETHERIDGE, Jesse ETHERIDGE.  /s/ William ROLLINS.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 123-124] Joseph OWENS sold to Joseph F. MIDGET, for $500.00, a tract of land on Powells Point adjoining Samuel OWENS, OLDS, and HARDY lines, containing 200 acres.  This indenture was made July 24, 1847.  Wit:  Gilbert LOWRY, Richard GRAY.  /s/ Joseph OWENS.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 131]  February 26, 1848 - We Samuel P. BRUMSEY and Wife Wilkey BRUMSEY for and in consideration of the sum of $195.00  paid to us by Edumnd SIMMONS for all of our rights, interest & claim in & to the sales of the land of the late Thomas W. SIMMONS dec. sold by Tully BELL Clerk & Master, of a decree of the Court of Equity, made at the instance of John L. FERRILL & Wife Mary & others and we the said Samuel P. BRUMSEY & Wife Wilkey do agree to & with the said Edmund SIMMONS & his heirs to ever warrant & defend the right & title of such sale so far as we are interested.  Witness: John SIMMONS, Joseph GRIGGS;  Registered March 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 136]  May 7, 1847 - We Joseph SIMMONS & Caroline DUNTON for and in consideration of the sum of $72.00 paid to us by Thomas LINDSEY for a parcel of land beginning at the main road adjoining the lands of John EVERTON thence along EVERTON line an Eastwardly course to William KINSEY’s line thence along KINSEY’s line various courses to Thos. LINDSEY’s  line, thence a Westwardly course along LINDSEY’s line to the main road near William KINSEY’s house, thence along the main road to the first station to contain 9 acres of land , it being the land that we heired from our Grandfather Thomas WILLIAMS out of the tract called the Howard Track.  Witness: J.B. DOZIER, Joseph GRIGGS; Registered March 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 151] Joshua HARRISON of Currituck County, by virtue of an order from Nov. Term 1847 court, sold at auction the negroes of Isaac DAVIS, dec'd., at which time Samuel MIDGETT of Tyrrell County became the highest bidder on a Negro girl named Sally Ann for $341.00.  This bill of sale was made January 4, 1848.  Wit: J.L. DEY (Joseph).  /s/ J. HARRISON, adm'r.  Registered: March 15, 1848.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 164-165]  March 11, 1848 - I Benjamin C. WALKER for and in consideration of the sum of $277.00 paid by John SIMMONS for a parcel of land containing 50 acres more or less, beginning various courses to Samuel NEAL’s line an Westwardly course to a gum, thence along Robert POYNER’s line a Northwest course to a holly thence along the land of Caleb WALKER’s to the first station..  Witness: Sarah POYNER, Robert POYNER; Registered June 14, 1848.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 172-173]  Sept. 7, 1835 - Know all men by these presents, that I John SIMMONS for and in consideration of the sum of $22.00 to me paid by Edmund SIMMONS for all the right, title, interest or claim that I have or ever could have at the death of my Mother Ann SIMMONS to certain property loaned to my Mother Ann SIMMONS by my Father Joseph SIMMONS Last Will & Testament & given in said Last Will and Testament to my sister Julia SIMMONS now dec. I hereby release, discharge all right & title whatsoever of the aforesaid property from me, my heirs & assigns forever unto the aforesaid Edmund SIMMONS.  Witness: Thomas W. SIMMONS;  Registered: September 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 174-175]  Sept. 7, 1835 -  I Asa SIMMONS for and in consideration of the sum of $22.00 to me paid by Edmund SIMMONS for all the right, title, interest or claim that I have or ever could have at the death of my Mother Ann SIMMONS to certain property loaned to my Mother Ann SIMMONS by my Father Joseph SIMMONS Last Will & Testament & given in said Last Will and Testament to my sister Julia SIMMONS now dec. I hereby release, discharge all right & title whatsoever of the aforesaid property from me, my heirs & assigns forever unto the aforesaid Edmund SIMMONS.  Witness: Thomas W. SIMMONS;  Registered: September 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 176] 1848 - I John SIMMONS for and in consideration of the sum of $600.00 paid to me by Nathan WALKER for a parcel of land in Indian Ridge District bounded in the North by the lands of William & Willoughby McBRIDE, on the West by Samuel ETHERIDGE’s heirs, on the South by Samuel ETHERIDGE’s heirs & on the East by Isaac M. BAXTER containing 150 acres more or less.  Witness: J.W. BAXTER, John BARNARD.  Registered:  September 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 179-180]  May 30, 1848 - I John SIMMONS as well for & in consideration of the natural love & affection which I hath & bearth unto the said Thos. POYNER, Son of Benjamin T. POYNER, hath given and granted a certain parcel of land beginning various courses to Easterdly course along Samuel O’NEAL’s line to a gum, thence a North West course along Robert POYNER’s line to a holly thence along the land of Caleb WALKER to the first station to contain 50 acres more or less.  Witness: Thomas LINDSEY, Wm. [Deed Book 25; pg. 217]  August 20, 1847 - Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin T. SIMMONS in pursuance of a decree of the County Court of Pleas & Quarter Session held for the County of Currituck at November Term 1842 after advertising the day & place of sale for the space of 40 days did on the Twentieth day of February A.D. 1843 offer for sale on the premises a tract of land whereon the late William M. COWELL resided, adjoining the lands of Benjamin COWELL on the South & Edmund COWELL on the North containing 50 acres more or less on a credit of Six months when Jaca COWELL appeared & bid the sum of $250.00 which was highest and best bid. Now this indenture witnesseth that I Benjamin T. SIMMONS, guardian, to William & Martha COWELL.  Registered: December 15, 1848

[Deed Book 25; pg. 229] August 16, 1847 - Benjamin TAYLOR & Samuel B. JARVIS for and in consideration of the sum of $50.00, that is to say $25.00 to each of us by Benjamin T. SIMMONS for a certain Island of land near Church’s Island known & called Monkey Island containing 10 acres more or less.  Witness: Jno. BUNNELL, J.W. BAXTER, S. B. [Deed Book 25; pg. 234-235] Joseph F. MIDGETT of Currituck County sold to Richard GRAY of Currituck County, for $250.00, a tract of land in Currituck County on Powells Point joining Samuel OWENS' land, Willoughby OLDS and HARDY's line, containing 100 acres.  This indenture was mane January 30, 1848.  Wit: Thomas GRIGGS, W.A. JARVIS.  /s/ Joseph F. [x] MIDGETT.  Registered: March 15, 1849.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 260-261]  May 3, 1849 - I Benjamin T. SIMMONS for and in consideration of the sum of $100.00 paid to me by Patrick PARKER for a certain parcel of land that I bought of Johnston POYNER lying on the West side of the road leading from Patrick PARKER’s gate to Robert POYNER’s gate containing 10 acres more or less.  Witness:  D.B. MORSE; Registered:  June 15, 1849

[Deed Book 25; pg. 300]  February 13, 1849 - I Johnston POYNER for and in consideration of the sum of $200.00 paid to me by Benjamin T. SIMMONS for a parcel of land near the Court House on the North by the lands of John C. HETFIELD and Patrick PARKER, on the West by the lands belonging to the heirs of Dempsey DOXEY dec. on the South by the lands of Robert POYNER and on the East by the lands of Benjamin T. SIMMONS containing 50 acres more or less.  Witness: H.J.L. WILLIAMS, E. SIMMONS; Registered: June 15, 1849

[Deed Book 25; pg. 300-301] Solomon A. BAUM of Currituck County sold to Elizabeth MIDGETT of Currituck County, for $20.00, a tract of land on Roanoak Island joining Esther MEEKINS, Hugh GAYLORD, and others, "...it being the land I bought of George Anah ETHERIDGE and Phias ETHERIDGE...", containing 8 acres.  This indenture was made January 29, 1848.  Wit: Arthur ETHERIDGE.  /s/ Solomon A. BAUM.  Registered: June 15, 1849.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 366-367]  March 15, 1847 - I Samuel S. SIMMONS of the County of Tyrel for and in consideration of the sum $150.00 to me paid by William W. CHADICK for a parcel of land lying & being on the East side of Powells Point beginning at the head of the Graving Creek various courses to the South course by a line of marked tree to the Nat. TOLLER’s heirs line various courses then a Southeastwardly course binding said TOLLER’s heirs line to a marked oak a corner tree in Hodges GALLOP line thence binding said GALLOP’s line a Northeastwardly course the various courses to the first station, containing 100 acres of land more or less.  Witness:  Isaac CASEY, John MELSON; Registered:  March 15, 1850

[Deed Book 25; pg. 378-379] Nathan O'NEAL of Currituck County sold to William A. PAINE of Currituck County, for $275.00, a tract of land in Currituck County in the Poplar Branch Dist. on North River and joining the land that Isaiah IVES sold to Thos. WOODHOUSE, containing 50 acres.  This indenture was made January 29, 1850.  Wit: Richard GRAY, Caleb J. SAWYER.  /s/ Nathan O'NEAL.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 379] December 25, 1849 - I Eugene MORTON for and in consideration of the sum of $700.00 paid to me by Edmund SIMMONS for a parcel of land near the Court House beginning at the main road & Jos. DEY’s corner, thence a Westwardly course binding said DEY’s line to B.T. SIMMONS line thence binding SIMMONS line a Southwardly course to a canal thence down the middle of the land an Eastwardly course to main road thence with the main road to the first station containing 100 acres more or less.  Witness: B.T. SIMMONS, Caleb MILLER; Registered: March 15, 1850 

[Deed Book 25; pg. 387]  Jan. 31, 1849 - John B. JONES of Currituck Co. sold to John GORNTO & Ransom BROCK of the state of Virginia County of Princess Anne, for $80, three certain piece of marsh & beach land lying in Currituck County, 50 acres on Frank’s Island, 50 acres on Walk’s Island & 100 acres on the beach opposite Great Fish Pond adjoining the land of Jno. C. HETFIELD on the south and Dennis SIMMONS on the west—patented by Thomas PERRY dec. the 50 acres on Walk’s Island and 50 acres on Frank’s Island patented by John B. JONES and Dennis SIMMONS.  Proved Feb. Term 1850 by John J. WATERFIEND & E.W. JONES.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 387]  Hodges GALLOP & C.L. SAWYER, executor of Willis GALLOP, dec'd. - Bill of Sale to William WOODHOUSE.  "...By virtue of an order of the worshipful Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions held for the County of Currituck at the Courthouse at Currituck on the last Monday in November 1848, after lawful notice given by advertisement, did on the 19th day of December 1848, at the late residence of Willis GALLOP, dec, expose to Public Sale, negro Thomas, child of Salley when & where William WOODHOUSE came forward & bid the sum of $31 which was the highest & best bid.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 388]  August 1849 - Know All men by these presents that I William WOODHOUSE of the County of Currituck, do for and in consideration of the sum of $41.00 to me in hand paid by Hodges GALLOP  for a certain negro girl Caroline, being the same negro Caroline, I purchased at the sale of Willis GALLOP, deceased.  Witnesses: W.S. HARRISON, C.L. SAWYER.  Feb. Term 1850.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 388]  Nov. 5, 1849 - Thomas J. ETHERIDGE's wife May?/Mary? sold to Wm. FEREBEE, SR., for $25.00, a certain piece of land containing 1 ½ acres more or less. Bounded by a ditch near Samuel BANKS house.  No witnesses listed.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 390]  Aug. __, 1849 - Wm. WOODHOUSE sold to Hodges GALLOP, for $31.00, for a certain negro boy Thomas, that I purchased at the sale of Willis GALLOP dec'd.  Witnesses: W.L. HARRISON, C.L. SAWYER.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 393]  May 27, 1850 - For and in consideration of the sum of $50.00 paid to me John SIMMONS by Edmund SIMMONS for a parcel of land lying in the District of Cowinjock it being the land that I heired by the death of my Brother Pat SIMMONS & was given to him by my Father Josep SIMMONS dec. beginning at the edge of Cowinjock Bay, thence running a Westwardly course binding my own line to the SANDERLIN line thence a Southwardly course along the SANDERLIN line to Benj. TAYLOR’s line thence Eastwardly binding said TAYLORs line to Samuel B. DOZIER’s line, binding said line to the River, thence down the River to the first station containing 350 acres more or less.  Witness: Peter PARKER; Registered: June 15, 1850

[Deed Book 25; pg. 393-394] Joseph MANN of Tyrrell County sold to Edward B. MIDGETT of Currituck County, for $124.66, a tract of land on Body's Island beginning on the Sound on the N. side of the first deep Creek on the N. side of Patrick's Hammock and running to Jos. DANIELS line, then running to the sea, then to John M. WISE's, containing 96 acres.  This indenture was made August 27, 1849.  Wit: Wm. E. ETHERIDGE, Thos. GRIGGS.  /s/ Jos. MANN.  Registered: June 15, 1850.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 398]   Jan. 4, 1831 - Know all men by these presents that I Asa SIMMONS for & in consideration of the sum of $75.00 paid to me by Benj. T. SIMMONS have sold sell convey & confirm unto Benj. T. SIMMONS all my right title, interest & claim that I heired or shall heir from the death of my Brother Patrick SIMMONS dec. or shall hereafter heir from the death of my Mother (Ann SIMMONS) in the lands & other property, together with his part of a certain negro man named Joe, which the said Patrick was entitled to by the Last Will & Testament of our Father Joseph SIMMONS.

Currituck SS Court of Pleas & Quarter, May Term 1850 The signing sealing & delivering of the deed was proved in open Court by the oaths of Solomon Ashbee & Ed. SIMMONS who proved the deaths of Asa SIMMONS the grantor & of Alexr. SPEAR subscribing witness to the same & also the handwriting of Asa SIMMONS grantor in said deed & of Alexr. [Deed Book 25; pg. 402] Edward B. MIDGETT of Currituck County sold to John M. MIDGETT of Currituck County, for $500.00, a tract of land on Body's Island beginning at the Sound at John M. WISE's north line and running to the sea, then to Solomon MANN's line, then to the Sound, containing 250 acres.  This indentures was made November 27, 1849.  Wit:  E. MORTON, H.J.S. WILLIAMS.  /s/ E.B. MIDGETT.  Registered: June 15, 1850.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 402-403] John M. MIDGETT of Currituck County sold to E.B. MIDGETT of Currituck County, for $1500.00, a tract of land in Currituck County on Churches Island joining James BERRY's land on the Sound and running to Jona TAYLOR's heirs line, then running to Coinjock Bay, containing 350 acres.  This indenture was made November 27, 1849.  Wit: E. MORTON, H.J.S. WILLIAMS.  /s/ John M. MIDGETT.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 404] Joseph BAUM of Currituck County sold to Thomas PAINE of Currituck County, for $325.00, a tract of land in Currituck County on Bodies Island near the Eagle Nest Bay, "it being the same which I purchased at the sale of John MIDYET, dec'd., the place whereon I now live, containing 50 acres together with the dwelling house & all other out houses..."  This indenture was made March 30, 1850.  Wit: Amos SIDDIN, Sol. A. BAUM.  /s/ Joseph [x] BAUM.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 404]  May 27, 1850 - Know all men by these presents that I John SIMMONS for and in consideration of the sum of $25.00 paid to me by Edmund SIMMONS all the right, title, interest & claim that I have now or ever could have by the death of my Mother Ann SIMMONS & the property within doors & without doors & all interest of a negro man by the name of Joseph, it being the property loaned to my Mother Ann SIMMONS by my Father Joseph SIMMONS Last Will & Testament given to my Sister Julia SIMMONS now dec. & also given in said Will & testament to my Brother Patrick SIMMONS now dec. I do hereby relinquish & discharge all right, title, intent & claim of the above named property free from myself my heirs & assigns forever unto the said Ed. SIMMONS.  Witness: Peter PARKER; Registered: June 15, 1850

[Deed Book 25; pg. 412] Lancelot POYNER of Currituck County & guardian to Nancy GRAY, lunatic, sold at auction 1/2 of the lands of Nancy GRAY adjoining Jno. M. MIDYETT on Churches Island in Currituck County and containing 100 acres at which time Jno. M. MIDYETT became the highest bidder at $500.00.  The sale was made May 29, 1849.  Wit: J.S. DEY, J. HARDISON.  /s/ Lancelot POYNER.  Registered: June 15, 1850.

[Deed Book 25; pg. 413] Wilson R. SUTTON of Currituck County sold to John M. MIDGETT of Tyrrell County, for $1000.00, a tract of land in Currituck County that Nancy GRAY bought from Daniel LINDSEY lying on Churches Island and joining the Sound, then to John W. GRAY, dec'd., line formerly, but at present Nancy GRAY's , dec'd., line, then to Coinjock Bay, then to Jona TAYLOR's, containing 200 acres.  This indenture was made February 2, 1847.  Wit: Stephen B. CASEY, Stephen WESKETT.  /s/ W.R. SUTTON.  Registered: June 15, 1850.
