Monday, February 25, 1805
Ordered that Charles V. Herbert have leave to keep an ordinary at his own dwelling house and the said came into court and give bond with James Nicholson and Dempsey Ballance securities in the sum of one hundred pounds as the law directs.

Ordered that John Taylor, orphan of John Taylor, dec be bound an apprentice to Daniel Dunton to learn the art of a water man.

Tuesday, February 26, 1805
Ordered that Josiah Cherry be and is appointed guardian to Sally and Elizabeth Nicholso orphan of James Nichols (sic) deceased at the same time the said guardian gave bond with Henry McPherson and Joseph Ferebee securities in the sum of L500 for each orphan.

Ordered that Benjamin Taylor Sen have the right of adm on the estate of John Taylor, Sen dec with the will annexed (?) who gave bond with Benjamin Taylor, Shell Banks and Hosea Ball securities in the sum of three hundred and forty pounds agreeable to law.

Came into court Sarah Taylor widow of John Taylor Sen, dec, and dicented (?) from the law will and testament of her award (John Taylor) and ? under act of General Assembly in luck (?) Aurmore (?) and provided and pray (?) the same maybe admitted . . .(?)

Ordered that Benjamin Taylor son of Edward be appointed guardian to Edward Taylor orphan of John Taylor Sen dec who gave bond with Benjamin Taylor Sen and Hosea Ball securities in the sum of thirty pounds.

Ordered that Benjamin Morris have leave to keep an ordinary in his own dwelling house who gave bond with Benj Taylor Sen and Th. Walker securities in the sum of one hundred pounds.

Ordered that Jesse Taylor, Esq. have the right of administration on the estate of John Heath, dec., who qualified and gave bond Th. Williams and Will. Taylor Sen. securities in the sum of five hundred pounds. (next item) Exactly the same except as adm of the estate of Will. Waterfield. (next item) the same except right of adm on estate of Waitman Waterfield.

Wednesday, February 27, 1805
Ordered that James Nicholson be appointed guardian unto Robert Bartholomew and Sarah Thompson orphans of John Thomson dec who appeared and gave bond with John Williams and Will. Powell securities in the sum of five hundred pounds for each orphan.

Ordered that Will. Gray renew his ordinary license for the ensuing year and gave bond with James Doxie and John Doxie securities in the sum of one hundred pounds.

Ordered that James Doxie renew his ordinary license for the ensuing year who gave bond with John Doxie and Will. Gray in the sum of one hundred pounds.

Ordered that Sandford Moor orphan of John More be bound an apprentice unto John Doxie until he arrives to the age of twenty one years he now being about twelve years of age to learn the farming business.

State vs. Benj Taylor, Sr., Not guilty of the charges laid in bill of indictment.

Ordered that Joel Poyner, Isaac Carey, Josiah Taylor, James Taylor, Isaiah Poyner and Saml Snut (?) be and work on the road from Coinjock Bay to Adam Poyners and they to keep the same in good order and repair.

Ordered that Mary Gregory be allowed the sum of twelve pounds for the maintenance of a bastard child begotten on her body by Josiah Taylor to commence from the time her last allowance expired to be paid in ? quarterly payments.

Thursday, February 28, 1805
Leml Taylor one of the Esquires listed at top of court records for this day (and other days this week).

Ordered that Peter Parker be appointed overseer of the publick road in the Narrows District in the room and stead of Will. Taylor Sen the late overseer and that he act therein agreeable to law.

Ordered that Abel (?) Roberts renew his ordinary bond for the ensuing year who gave bond with James Nicholson and Demcy Ballance securities in the sum of one hundred pounds.

Ordered that Will Lumm and Edward Taylor be appointed patrolers in the Narrows District and that they act therein agreeable to law.

Ordered that Will. Woodhouse (?) and Will Taylor Sen be appointed patrollers for the Narrow Shore district and act therein agreeable to law.

Ordered that Benj Taylor, Sen. be appointed guardian to Jonathan Jervice invire (?) orphan of (covered by pencil during microfilming) Jervise, Jun dec agreeable to his own choice who gave bond with ? W. Hall and Mitchell (?) Simmons securities in the sum of five hundred pounds.

Ordered that Aaron Bright be appointed guardian to Elizabeth Nichols orphan of James Nichols dec who gave bond with Mitchell Simmons and Benj Taylor Sen securities in the sum of five hundred pounds agreeable to law.

Present for election of Sheriff: #13 Jesse Taylor.

State vs James Nicholson; 2nd Rig (?) & Baty (?). Jury say the defendant is guilty.

St. vs Ben Cos. Andrew Bates vs Jas Bates. Thomas Bell vs. Doctor (?) David Jones. James Darrock vs John Williams. John Evans Jun vs Will Lunn. John Dailey vs Andrew Bates. Benjamin Taylor, Sen. juror in each of these cases.

Ordered that Thomas Sanderson, Thomas Poyner, Esq., Daniel Lindsay and Lamb Taylor Esq or any three of them audite and settle the accounts of Benj Taylor as adm of John Taylor, dec and make return to next court.

(next item) the same appraise and divide the estate of John Taylor, decd among the lawful representatives of the said deceased and make return to next court.

May 31, 1805
Ordered that Thomas Poyner, Thomas Sanderson (?), Edward Hardy and Daniel Lindsay or any three of them audit and settle the accounts of Samuel Jarvis Junior for guardian of Thomas Jarvis deceased with Benjamin Taylor Sen the present guardian of said orphan and report to next term.

Ordered that Jesse Taylor, ? Beasley, John White, and Patrick White or any three of them audite and settle the accounts of Malachi Jones, Exr of the last will of John Litchfield, dec and make report to next term.

Ordered that Love Parker be allowed the sum of six pounds for the fourth years of the maintenance of a bastard child begotten on her body by Josias Nicholson to be paid in equal quarterly payments by the said Josias Nicholson.

Ordered that Nancy Gray be allowed the sum of six pounds ten shillings for the maintenance of a bastard child begotten on her body by Ben Taylor son of Jonathan for the third years maintenance to be paid in equal quarterly payments by the said Benj Taylor.

Ordered that Ben. Cox, James Nicholson, John Ballance be appointed pattrollers in the room and stead of the former in that district (appears to be the courthouse district) and that they act therein agreeable to law.

Ordered that Th. Poyner, Th. Sanderson, Lemuel Taylor, Esquires and Jesse Barnard or any three of them audite and settle the accounts of Hosea Ball as Executor of Stephen Gray, Dec and make return to next court.

Ordered that Andrew Duke, Thomas Williams Esqs, Samuel O'Neal and Jonathan Taylor or any three of them audite and settle the accounts of Hosea Ball as Executor of Joel Poyner, Sen dec and make return to next court.

Ordered that William Taylor, Daniel Lindsay, Samuel Salyear Jun and William Lunn be appointed patrolers in the Narrows District and that they act therein according to law.

Ordered that Jesse Taylor, Th. Bray, Bill Beasley (?) Sam Etheridge Sen or any of the three of them audite and settle the accounts of Malachi Jones as Ext of the last will and testament of Henry White Esq. dec and make return to next court. (next Item) Same except last will and testament of Malachi Capps.

Ordered that Edward Hardy, Th Poyner, Sam Salyear Jun and Lemuel Taylor or any three of them appraise and divide the negroes and personal estate of Will Mound Esq deceased equal among his lawful representatives agreeable to the last will and testament of said deceased and make return to next court.
