Currituck Co., NC Cemeteries

Owens - Berry Cemetery
Jarvisburg, NC

Directions: From US 158 southbound make a left onto Forbes Road [SR 1118], go .3 mile and make a right onto a private drive.  The cemetery is about .1 mile on the right.
Photographed:  Some photos taken in Nov. 2000 by J.A. Owens and others taken May 8, 2008 by Ben Bateman.  This cemetery was very overgrown with a thick cover of creeping ivy which can be seen in the above photograph.

NOTE:  This cemetery is named "Dewey Forbes Cemetery" in the Currituck County Cemetery book, however, Barbara Baum (Jarvis) Owens Berry, started the cemetery when her daughter, Polly Jarvis Evans, died in 1874.  It is not known where either Barbara nor her husbands are buried but since there are known unmarked graves in the cemetery, and the fact that she started the cemetery in 1874, there is a good possibility that she and her third husband are buried there too.
