Miss Annie May Bruce. Born in Columbus Georgia. Descendant of Capt. Philemon Hodges. Daughter of Henry Bruce 
and Henrietta Patten, his wife. Granddaughter of Richard Patten and Martha Ann Hodges, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter 
of Samuel Kittrell Hodges and Elizabeth De Sasure Smith, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of Philemon Hodges and 
Winefred Kittrell, his wife.
	Philemon Hodges, enlisted 1776 under Capt. Samuel Wise and was at the battle of Sullivan's Island. He served 
several short tours and when Capt. Thomas Hadley was killed by the Tories, 1781 he was commissioned captain of 
Light Horse and served to the close of the war under Col. Thomas Armstrong. In 1832 he was placed on the pension 
roll of Baldwin county, GA., for two years actual service as private and captain, North Carolina line.
	He was born 1760 in Cumberland County, NC Also No. 34561.
