We hereby authorize and empower Arch McLean of Fayettesville NC to receive from the Clerk of the Superior Court of said County the amt of (??Witness??) Tickets collected and due to the late Thomas D. Murphy, our brother, in the case of Eliza. Buie vs Robert Wooten, amounting to Sixteen and 25/100 dolls.

N.W. Ray Esq Clerk of the Supr Court of Cumberland, having paid over to Anna E. Buie (formerly Anna Murphy) Sixteen and 25/100 dollars the amt of (??Witness??) Tickets due her brother the late Thomas D. Murphy dec. in the suit of Elizabeth Buie against Robert Wooten, the said Thomas D. Murphy having died intestate and there being no estate known to her, and no other distributor of heir, other than herself and another brother residing when last heard from, in the State of Texas. The undersigned hereby agree and bind themselves to the said N.W. Ray to save him harmless and refund the said amount of sixteen dollars and 25/100 should he be called upon by any other party, lawfully claiming the same, and should be obliged to pay to said party the sum above named. Witness our hands and seals this 15 day of Feby 1868.
