1. WILLIAM1 MOORE was born Bef. 1700 in Possibly Va ., and died Abt. 1774 in Bladen County. He married UNKNOWN.

Notes for WILLIAM MOORE:
William Moore resided on the northwest branch of the Cape Fear River in old Bladen County, North Carolina. He was a planter and brick mason, according to the records gave a church site to the Baptist Church. He had four sons: William, James, John and Matthew. Most of the old Bladen rcords of that early day are missing due to two fires, but William Moore's lands included 300 acres on Harrison's Creek, just west of the Cape Fear, in which he was joint patentee with one Benjamin Clark. It was in1758 that he donated two acres to the Baptist Society, the deed being witnessed by Benjamin Singleterry and Thomas Vince.

3. JOHN3 MOORE (MATTHEW2, WILLIAM1) was born 1787 in Cumberland Co., North Carolinia, and died 1843 in Leon County, Florida. He married PENELOPE JOHNSON March 09, 1807 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, daughter of HARDY JOHNSON and REBECCA. She was born 1789 in Southampton County, Va., and died 1839 in Leon County or Jefferson Co Florida.

Notes for JOHN MOORE:
John Moore was in the War of 1812 and was a sergeant in the 2nd Company, 1st Regiment, Benjamin Moore, Lewis Moore, and a young man by the name of Ebenezer Folsom, grandson of the notable Col. Ebenezer Folsom of Revolutionary renown.

Notes for PENELOPE JOHNSON:
Penelope Johnson was the daughter of Hardy Johnson Jr. who was born about 1740 when Southampton was part of Isle of Wight County, Virginia and granddaughter of Hardy Johnson (Johnston) Sr. Her mother was Rebecca who may have been his second wife. There is a marriage bond for Hardy Johnson and Sarah Jones, February 4, 1807 in Cumberland County, with John Spence as surety. It stands to reason that Rebecca died between January 16, 1804 and August 15, 1805. She signed a deed to son, William, in 1804, but did not sign the deed to her son Silas in 1805.
