WELL KNOWN MAN DIES TODAY AT HOSPITAL HERE

Funeral Services for D. S. Massey, Well Known Citizen Will Be Held Tomorrow.

D. S. (David Shepherd) Massey, a native of Fayetteville and member of a well known and esteemed family of the community, died in Pittman Hospital at two o'clock this morning after and illness of eight weeks.

Mr. Massey, who was born on Massey Hill, a southern suburb of the city, February 6, 1856, was known to many of the older citizens here and was well liked. About 40 years ago he went to Texas, where he has since resided. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. I.C. Bond and Mrs. Mary Parker both of Fayetteville.

The Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Sunday morning, from Massey Hill Baptist church.

The remains will be taken to the church from the residence of Mrs. I.C. Bond on Russel Street. The interment will be in the Massey family graveyard. Following will be the pall-bearers A.E. Martin. ? J. Kennedy, Edward McLean, Frank Barrett, John Hair, and R.L. Wemyss. (Fayetteville Observer May 1922)
