FROM THE FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER
Tuesday, November 18, 1919

The whole community was sadden today by the death of Margaret Alice Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.
Grissom Davis, whose sweet and gentle spirit passed from earth to heaven this morning about 1 o'clock
a.m. Margaret died from the effects of the accident which befell her Sunday evening at her home on Maiden
Lane, when she was fearfully burned while sitting on the floor in front of an open fireplace when her
clothing caught fire. She was born in January, 1912, and was therefore in the eighth year of her age.
Unusually bright and precocious, sweet, lovable and attractive, Margaret was the sunshine of her home.
And her parents have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

The funeral was held this afternoon from Hay Street Methodist Church at 3:30 o'clock. The pallbearers
were: Active, Messrs. Stiles Sedberry, William Hunter, Walter Cook, Henry Myrover; honorary, Col. W.S.
Cook, Col, C.W. Broadfoot, Dr. D.G. McKethan, Dr.W.S. Jordan, Judge H.L. Cook, A.J. Cook, John H. Cook,
N.J. McGeachy, H.M. McKethan, C.W. Rankin, T.H. Sutton.
