Last Will and Testament of Daniel Leslie In the name of God Amen, I Daniel Leslie of the County of Cumberland and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament – And as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner.

I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jennet the whole of my lands supposed to be one hundred and fifty acres, And my Negro boy named Ned; my old bay horse, four cows and calves, six ewes and lambs, ten hogs – one bed and furniture, all the kitchen furniture, the weaver's loom, one chest, my farming utensils to have and to hold the same her life time; and after her death to be equally divided among my children except my sons John Leslie and Hector, to whom I give as follows – To John one cow and calf and to Hector an equal portion with the rest except two cows and calves which he has already in possession to be estimated at the average price of cows and calves at the time of Division or settlement – all the residue of my stock of cattle, cows, sheep, hogs, and a young horse, household furniture, also my money and all notes due me, when collected, I give and bequeath my children Hector, Mary, Malcom, Isabella, Sally, Daniel, Hugh and Archibald Leslie, to be equally divided among them, and lastly all my other property, whether real or personal I give and bequeath to my children above named to be equally divided among them – At the same time I do appoint Daniel Leslie and Hugh Leslie my sons as Joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby revoke all other wills or Testaments, Bequeaths or Executors by me in before this time named, willed or bequeathed. To which I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Tenth day of May in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty.
