Virginia Ruth Vann, daughter of James Vann and Mary Robinson Vann b. 1856 Sampson Co., NC d. March 15, 1926 Fayetteville, NC . married William McNeal Branch at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville on Nov. 11, 1875. We believe the 3 women pictured with her are her daughers: Callie Belle Branch b. 3 Feb 1883 d. 17 May 1970 (Mrs.Theodore Clevius Hilburn) Lila Gray Branch b. 7 April (or May) 1888 d. 22 June 1916 (Mrs. Francis Boyd Peele) Katie Louise Branch b. 10 Aug 1892 d. 12 May 1980 (Mrs. Robert Louis Rhodes) Virginia was a nurse/midwife in Fayetteville, NC She also had 2 sons: William McNeal Branch, Jr b. 1891 d. 1918 and Claude L. Branch b. 1892 or 1893 d. possibly 1927

Callie Belle Branch (daughter of William McNeal Branch and Virginia (Jenny) Ruth Vann and Theodore (Ted) (middle name Clerrious or Clevious) Hilburn (son of Rufus Hilburn & Lucy Hester)

July 14, 1915. To Mrs. M. J. Vann, Fayetteville, NC. Can you guess who this is driving the real live ostrich? There were five hundred of them on the farm where this picture was taken on Hilsboro Street.

The two above are the front and back of a postcard found in a family photo album. James Vann of Sampson Co who relocated to Cumberland Co between 1860 (in Sampson co) and 1870 (in Cumberland Co) was the father of Virginia Vann. In 1880, he is shown on census records to be married to a Mary J Vann. We are trying to determine if that wife is who the card was sent to and who is in the photo in the buggy.
