MURCHISON

Thanks I am interested in the Moore Co. and Cumberland Co. MURCHISON's. My g g g g grand fathers grave was discovered recently in the rural backwoods of Coosa Co. AL by pulpwooders. The inscription on the grave said John B. MURCHISON b January 12, 1774 Cumberland Co. NC and d August 26, 1847. Only one other grave was found, his wife's Nancy MURCHISON which the inscription said was the daughter of Kenneth MURCHISON of Moore Co. NC Mother was Catherine McIver. Maybe someone will have additional info for me as well.

BOLLING, GRISSELL

I am looking for any information on William BOLLING & Jane GRISSELL. William BOLLING b.1810 in NC. Jane GRISSELL b. Georgia (?). They were married Oct 16, 1838 in Greene County, AL. They had at least 2 sons: William Greene & Thomas. The 1790 census shows a William BOLLING in Cumberland County, NC. I believe that this William BOLLING was my great great grandfathers father. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated, since I have come to a dead end.

FINLAYSON

Looking for any information on Angus FINLAYSON (b.1790, d.1851-1859) in Cumberland County. Was born in Scotland and imigrated with his wife Catherine to Cumberland Co between 1820-1825. Children include: Alexander, Cartherine J, Christina A, Malcom, Mary.

CAMERON

Looking for any info. on John A. CAMERON b. Oct. 4, 1811 in Cumberland County NC. Also any info on his parents or siblings. He had a brother Malcom B. CAMERON and sister Sarah CAMERON who mar. Alexander McKINNON also from NC. All ended up in Union County AR. There was probably at least one more brother and one more sister. (names unknown) Their mother was Catherine ? maiden name unknown.

DAVIS

Searching for information on Louis (Louie) DAVIS. Louis is found in the 1840 Cumberland Co., NC census records. His father may have been John DAVIS. His wife may have been Elizabeth PARRISH. Among their children were: 1. William DAVIS, moved to Ooltewah , TN 2. Robert DAVIS, moved to Dallas, TX 3. Wiley Oren DAVIS b: 1832 Fayettsville, Cumberland Co., NC, m. Susannah Cunningham (born 1825 in Washington Co., VA). They were married 1853 in Troublesome Cr., Ky. If anyone knows anything about Louis DAVIS or maybe researching him, I would love to correspond.

Seeking information about the family of John Crumpler AVERITT. He was born December 3, 1818, near Fayettsville. His mother was Jane AUTRY, and his father John AVERITT. JC AVERITT was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Averitt was ordained February 9, 1843, as pastor of the Cape Fear Church.

POWELL

James and Narcissa POWELL had two daughters, born apparently in NC. One Elizabeth Christina POWELL b in 1852 and the other Isabella Catherine POWELL b 3 Nov 1854. Elizabeth married Robert Francis AMOS (my grandfather) in Rockingham Co., NC on 19 De.1872. Elizabeth died in childbirth on 28 Sept. 1875. R.F. AMOS on 11 Jan.1877 married Isabella. They moved to Cumberland Co in 1888 and most of their ten children were born there. I would appreciate hearing from any one researching this family.

RAY

I am looking for the father of 3 RAYs: John, Archibald, and Duncan who came over here with the MacDONALDs. Duncan was born in Fayetteville in 1797. His son Duncan Jr. was a colonel in the Confederate Army. Duncan Jr's son was Dr. W. W. Ray of Congaree, S. C. died in 1929. Thomas RAY was born in N. C. near Fayetteville. August 9, 1766. He married Chairty TEAGUE sold his property in Fayetteville and came to Ross County Ohio 1803. d. Dec. 2, 1841. Any help appreciated.

SHEPPARD

Looking for any info. on the parents, siblings spouse and children of Andrew SHEPPARD. He came to America when he was 1 year old (in 1858) from Cumberlandshire, Scotland and they settled in Cumberland Co. He served in the NC Line during the Revolutionary War and left Cumberland Co. in 1797 to settle in Ga. He left Ga. in 1818 and settled in Butler Co., Ala. There was an Andrew SHEPPARD who was in the Cumberland Co. Militia in the 1770's and who was elected Capt. in 1770 and who was a Justice of the Peace in 1768, I am wondering if my Andrew's father might have also been named Andrew. Thanks for any info.

MEDLIN

Seek descendants of John MEDLIN (MEDLING) (MADLEN) who was issued on October 24, 1765 a warrant for survey for 100 acres in Cumberland County joining and above WEIR's (WYER's) land on Richland Creek, joining Joseph DUNN, WEIRs line, and Henry ATKINSON, which was sold to Joseph DUNN on March 20, 1769. On May 24, 1773, Joel MEDLIN (MADLEN) entered 100 acres in Cumberland County on south side of John PATTERSON's land and joining the same on Lower Little River. On January 29, 1784 in Cumberland County Court Minutes, John MEDLIN, Joel MEDLIN and Finley MCDONALD were ordered to work under Jason WADSWORTH, road overseer.

RYALS

Seek parents of Richard RYALS, (Wife Milly <Milbra Baggett 1750-1840>) Revolutionary war Patriot soldier, born ca 1748, died around 1816. Listed in Cumberland County in census of 1790, 1800, and 1810. Will dated March 29, 1816 recorded in Cumberland County. Plantation described in will was along Big Branch and bordered Black River.

EVANS, KENT

My grandmother was Henietta Oliver EVANS and she married John Slater KENT. They lived in Fayetteville NC. John KENT owned some type of wholesale business and lost it during the depression. They had four children, John S., Jr, William, Claude N.and Henri Evans (my father). I know that my grandmother is buried in Faytetteville; she died ca. 1976, possibly buried in a Presbyterian cemetery.

I am looking for information on the GEE family cemetery which is located in the old part of Fayetteville in Cumberland County. This cemetery is a very small plot containing the graves of James and Mary Walker GEE and is near the location of the former home for Confederate War widows.

THOMPSON/THOMSON

Malcolm THOMPSON born ca 1784 in NC, died before 17 Feb 1853 in Franklin County, AL. In Dec 1819, Malcolm appoints John THOMSON of the County of Cumberland, NC to be his attorney and lawful agent to sell and give deed to his land and property. I am look for any information on Malcolm, his parents, siblings, wife, etc. My ancestor is his daughter, Catherine wife of Samuel MOORE. In the 1850 Census of Limestone County, a younger Malcolm and a Duncan THOMPSON, both born in NC, are living next door to Samuel MOORE. What is their connection to Catherine? Are they her brothers, not listed in the Deed records, or are they her nephews? Any and all information will be appreciated.

Joseph BUNN, b. before 1795, d. 1848. Married in Cumb. Co. 1815 to Nancy LACKEYE. Joseph was the namesake for the Bunn's Level community in what is now Harnett Co. and was the first PostMaster. Donated land that established the Bunnlevel Friendship Baptist Church. Children; Mary BUNN b. ca 1816, married James Carroll Dollar, Hiram BUNN, Burwell BUNN, Jonathan BUNN, Henry BUNN, Joseph BUNN, Nancy BUNN, Ales BUNN, & Richard BUNN.

Robert NORDON, b. ca 1815, 35 in 1850 census, birth place unknown, married in Cumb. Co., Nancy HALLIN, b. ca 1813, 37 in 1850 census.
