The Blue Mirror Cafe ...
... long a Conover landmark.
From its beginning, as a top-notch
cafe, the Blue Mirror
drew clientele from Hickory, Newton, Maiden, and beyond.
The Blue Mirror Cafe underwent a
transition
as a truck stop before it became a bar.
As competition for eateries
increased, the Blue Mirror, unable to
provide the ambiance that customers expected, became a "road
house."

The number of police calls to the
Blue Mirror Cafe each
weekend evening were danger signals before its eventual demise.
Its legacy would be that of a struggling used car sales lot.
