In the name of God Amen. I Glasgow Pridgen of Columbus County, State of North Carolina, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks be to God for same, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, I desire that my body should be buried with proper Christian ceremonies, and that my funeral expenses should be paid.- and in addition thereto I give to my young daughter Lettitia Roberta my Marble Top Bureau, also my teaster bedstead bed and furniture. I give to my young daughter Martha, my Mahogany Colored Bureau with two drawers on top and also my lowpost bedstead bed and furniture. I give to my beloved wife Mary my other bed and bedstead and I also give her all my cattle to keep and use for her benefit and the benefit of my two young daughters Lettitia Roberta and Martha and at the death of my said wife Mary to be equally divided between my two said daughters. I also give each of my said daughters a wash stand each, which are used in my house. I also give my mule Drunk to my wife Mary. I give to my two young daughters, Lettitia Roberta and Martha One hundred dollars each for the education of my two said daughters. I direct that the Notes due my by said McCallum and Smith be given up to them without requiring them to pay any more on said note. To my daughter Fanny I give a note which I hold against her husband Thermon M. Smith. Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my ____________ and trusty friend D.P. High my executer to this my last will and testament with full Power and Authority to execute and carry out same.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal in the presence of these witnesses, who at my request have signed the same. This February 12 AD 1879

At the request of Glasgow Pridgen and in his presence, and in the presence of each other and after seeing him sign this his last will and testament we have signed the same as Witnesses.

The execution of this paper writing is duly proved by the oath and examination of J W Ellis and J E Kelly the two subscribing witnesses thereto and is ordered to be recorded and filed August 12, 1879.
