TURNER CEMETERY This cemetery is located in No. 2 Township, Cleveland County, N.C. on lands of Betsey Ann Phillips about 150 years north of highway from Shelby to Boiling Springs, N.C. and about ¾ mile west of Boiling Springs and on a slight knoll. Owner of Cemetery: Betsey Ann Phillips Approximate number of marked graves: None Before 1914: None After 1914: None Unmarked graves: 1 (Matthias Turner, b. 1776, Dec. 1851) General condition of cemetery: No attention is given the grave except to plow around it. Bushes have grown up over it. Date of survey Nov. 30, 1938 Workers: B. E. Weathers and A. G. Melton A Mr. Turner is buried in this cemetery located near Boiling Springs on north side of road to Shelby, N.C. and apparently from all accounts has been there for many years. According to U.S. Census of 1850, Cleveland County, and data taken from a family Bible, Matthias Turner was born in Pennsylvania in 1776 and died Dec. 1851. His home farm was situated near this grave. Family tradition is that he was thrown from a horse and died instantly at this spot and was buried here instead of the nearby cemetery, Boiling Springs Baptist Church. One of his sons was Nelson Turner, who died Feb. 15, 1877. Also, W. H. Turner, born Dec. 13, 1838, died Jan. 1, 1922. He was a grandson. Ralph B. Turner, born April 26, 1879, and was a great grandson, and a son of W. H.
