July 15, 1863 in the second year of his age "In memory of Elder Joseph Suttle who died May 26, 1861. Aged 34 years, 1 month and 1 day. Of the public virtues and services of this good man it is unnecessary to speak. His liberal and unaffected hospitality; his singular moderation and equanimity are well known, and held in pleasing but mournful remembrance; none was more illustrious in life; none was ever more happy in death. He left the world cheered by the benedictions of the church to whom he left the inheritance of his fame, and the memory of his bright example, and was borne to that world where the pure in heart meet their God."
