THE SAUNDERS CEMETERY This cemetery is located in No. 6 Township, Cleveland County, NC and inside the incorporate limits of the town of Shelby at the site of the old Winett Hosiery Mill, southeast Shelby. Approximate number of marked graves: 1 Before 1914: 1 After 1914: None Earliest marked grave: James Toliver Saunders General condition of cemetery: A house has been built very near the cemetery and it is actually enclosed by a wire fence used for domestic purposes. Date of survey: Feb. 21, 1939 Worker: A. G. Melton Inscriptions: "Jas. Toliver Saunders, Co. G. 71 N.C. Jr. Res. C.S.A." (This marker stands in an old cemetery very near a tenant house owned by the Ella Mill Co. I found ten unmarked graves. It was reported by the tenant that there were 15 or 20 others. Worker. A. G.
