SALEM M. E. CHURCH CEMETERY This cemetery is located in Cleveland County, No. 6 Township on south side of Highway No. 74 ¾ miles west of Buffalo Creek and about five miles east of Shelby, NC. Date of survey: June 6, 1939 Salem M. E. Church, situated about five miles east of Shelby, N.C. on Highway No. 74 and about ¾ mile west of Buffalo Creek, was built according to a dim date on a cement pillar in 1898. It is a one-room frame building about 30 x 45 feet consisting of twelve windows and one door facing the highway. The building is heated by a stove and lighted by two Aladdin lamps. There are only thirty pews. A. Mrs. Hamrick reports that the church owns two acres of land. A. Rev. Rayle is the present pastor and lives in Shelby, N.C. The church has preaching one a month. Mr. Fred Anthony of Kings Mountain, N.C., R.F.D. No. 2, is superintendent of the Sunday School. The stewards are: Calvin Hamrick, Jake Q.
