It is one miles southwest of Walls Baptist Church and on the Piney Mountain Road leading from Ellenboro to Bostic, N.C., being on a knoll and about 400 yards northwest of Rocky Branch on the lands of George P. Green. Owner of Cemetery: George P. Green Approximate number of marked graves: 9 Unmarked graves: 68 Earliest marked grave: Elizabeth Teal, d. July 12, 1839 General condition of cemetery: The cemetery is fairly well kept considering its age and locality. The markers are in comparatively good condition. Weeds and grass grown in the cemetery, but it shows some attention. This old family graveyard is on the lands of Mr. George P. Green who was born July 10, 1865. He has had possession of the land for 35 to 40 years. It is situated about 100 yards north of Old Piney Mountain Road and is in sight of Mr. Green's house, say 300 yards away and is on a slight knoll. The cemetery is in plain view of the road. Mr. Green's father and mother are buried here, but have no markers. However, we listed their graves per his Family Bible as follows: Green, Joseph P., b. Mar. 19, 1829, d. Melton, Jr., 79, came from England; But I have as yet been unable to find his Grave. In fact, I have not learned his name. Samuel Melton, buried here, is my great- Great grandfather. Worker, Anson G. Melton.) Melton, Margaret [She was a Davis, so says George P. Green, 74.) B. March 5, 1796 D. July 25, 1877 "She was a consistent member of the Baptist Church for more than 40 years." Davis, Lucinda, consort of Simon Davis D. April 1 (Stone broken) 1846 in the 81st year of her age. Davis, Simon D. June 4, 1856 in the 99th year of his age (The above Simon Davis must be one of the first person born in Rutherford County, judging from his age. Worker, Anson Gustavus Melton.) Teal, Elizabeth, consort of J. Teal D. July 12, 1839 Aged: 25 yrs. Davis, William, Esq. D. Oct. 10, 1854 Aged: 69 yrs. Davis, Rachel D., consort of J. Davis D. Goforth; Margaret Davis who m. Lonze Rollins; and "Tump" Davis who m. ___ Bridges?. William Davis, I take it, is a close relative of My great-grandmother, Margaret Davis. Worker, Anson Gustavus Melton.) (George P. Green says that George Davis, Sr., and wife, Lucinda Womac Davis, father and mother of George Davis, Jr., near Walls Church, are buried here. Of course, they have no markers and we are taking Mr. Green's statement for this information. Mr. Green also stated that one Negro man was buried here, but could not recall his name. Worker, Anson.
